The Journey Begins

It is the Lord who goes before you.  He will be with you, he will not leave or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed.     Deuteronomy 31: 8

This scripture verse was pointed out to me this morning by a friend after a conversation with her last night through many of my tears.  Yesterday was a hard day... This verse reminds us that the Lord goes before us, he never leaves us and we don't have to be afraid or upset.  Todd leaves his job of 24 years this Friday.  Together we will devote our time to getting the word out about our ministry and to find those who will partner with us.  We are stepping out on complete faith the the Lord is with us, that he has called us to be his witnesses on the other side of the world for his purpose.  We don't believe the journey will be easy, but we also know the best, safest place to be is in the will of God.
God has blessed us the past several weeks with opportunities to speak about our call and ministry plans to members at Shandon United Methodist church in Columbia SC and at Bethlehem First UMC in Bethlehem, Georgia.  At each church we were able to meet and share with so many wonderful people.  We spoke about how this call has been a process for us, not an overnight decision.  How going to the Lord everyday in devotion and prayer; asking him how we could serve him more; how serving in youth ministry, watching and being part of lives transformed for Christ; how serving on mission trips and seeking to be the hands and feet of Christ in our everyday lives; how studying scripture, seeking discernment and worshiping with fellow believers has brought us to this place.  When people say "I don't know if I could do that, leave my life here to go to the ends of the earth" we remind them that Acts 1:8 says to be his witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.  That means that we are all called to be his witness.  Some of us will be his witness in our hometown, others in our nation and some to other parts of our world.  Each of us can be a witness and testimony to Christ, especially by loving others the way God loves us.  We pray that our story somehow encourages all believers to find ways to share their faith and bring others into a true, alive relationship with Christ no matter where they are; to live out the Great Commission of making disciples.
Thank you for being on this journey with us.  We still need deep prayer; for our family, for protection, for discernment, for the people of Thailand , and the ministry team there now.  We also need monthly supporters. We still have to raise 45% of the the total amount needed for 5 years in ministry in Thailand. No gift is too small and no gift too large, please consider partnering with us.
God's blessings on you this day.
Pam and Todd
